Basement update

Well, what can I say? My walls are well hung. I'm not done yet but we're getting there. I had a visit from the building inspector as you can see.

The blue michelin man that says "uh oh"

Since it's been snowing here the past two days, we've had to get all bundled up to go anywhere. About a block after we leave the house (or where ever) I hear a bang from the back seat and realize one of his boots have come off. Then I notice him shaking his other foot while staring at it intently. Before long, I hear the clunk of the other boot followed by a quiet and nonchalant "uh oh." "Uh huh," I think to myself as I'm trying to concentrate on the road and not keep looking to the back seat. Then I'll hear a struggle comprised of grunting, groaning and whining. When I get a chance I look back and realize now the socks are coming off. When he gets them both off he throws them to the side, takes a deep breath, relaxes and then says "uh oh," and he looks at me as if saying "shoot Mom, my socks came off again!" By the time we get where we are going I have to put on his socks and boots and hat again. I would be mad, but the whole thing is so darn cute. Here's how much snow we got with this last storm:

Basement Update

Since things have slowed down for us, I've been able to work more on the basement. I have finished framing including the steps and this weekend I put up the insulation. Things are coming along. Next will be hanging sheet rock. I just need to figure out how to get it to my house then I'll be set.

I can't put my arms down! First time in the snow

We woke up this morning with 4 inches of fresh snow on the ground! Happy October? It was also only 15 degrees (ouch!). It inspired R to think about Christmas and within about 15 minutes he had come up with a Chirstmas gift idea for everyone in the family. Next, we did what any normal new parents would do; we bundled up our little boy and sent him out in the snow...

Later on, he did wander to the wagon and I think he was confused to see that the wagon was full of snow! I couldn't help thinking about that kid in "A Christmas Story" who was bundled up so tight he couldn't put his arms down.

It was a lot of work getting ready
